Dear members and colleagues,
As our 17th triennial colloquium, to be held from 18-21 July in Prague, is approaching, on behalf of the organizing committee, I’d like to thank all the speakers who submitted their papers, and I’m glad to tell you that they are now available on the SITM website in the password protected area.
Please note that regarding the travel grants that SITM offers as usual for students, unwaged and low-waged or low‑pensioned members, who will participate at the Prague colloquium presenting a paper, the deadline of application has been extended to 15 June.
When checking a bibliographic reference for my own paper, I found out the sad news that our dear colleague Ronald E. Surtz passed away in February. The last time we met was in 2014 in Seville on the occasion of a PhD thesis. He was such a kind person and such an outstanding scholar, and will be deeply missed by all of us. You will find his obituary on the website of Princeton University.
We also have to moan the loss of Dom Josep Massot i Muntaner, OSB, Majorcan Benedictine monk, priest, philologist, historian, editor, essayist and activist of Catalan culture, who passed away in April. As theatre scholars we are particularly indebted to him for his archival research on medieval Catalan drama. He will always be remembered for his great wisdom and vast culture, and as the understanding, generous, kind, endearing, and extraordinarily hardworking man he was. You will find his obituary on the website of the Monastery of Montserrat. May both rest in peace!
On behalf of SITM, Cora Dietl will organize two sessions at the IMC Leeds, 4-7 July 2022: the first on Monday, 4 July (14.15-15.45 h) with the title “Murals and Banners Crossing Borders in Medieval Drama” (session 218), and the second on Tuesday, 5 July (11.15-12.45 h) with the title “Breaking the Fourth Wall in Medieval Theatre” (session 618). For more details on both sessions, please see the programme.
With my best wishes and very much looking forward to seeing you in Prague!
