July 28, 2021
Dear members and colleagues,
Please find attached the call for papers and productions of our 17th triennial colloquium in Prague, which will take place from 18-21 July 2022. The deadline for the proposals for performances (to be staged in any language) is 1 October 2021. Proposals for papers or theatre workshops (in English or French) should be handed in by 1 November 2021.
At IMC Leeds, 4-7 July 2022, the special thematic strand will be “Borders”, as in 2020. All SITM members are very welcome to organize sessions about medieval theatre at the IMC, not necessarily related to the special thematic focus. The deadline for paper proposals is 31 August 2021; the deadline for session proposals, 30 September 2021 (https://www.imc.leeds.ac.uk/imc-2022/).
On behalf of SITM, Cora Dietl will organize a session with the title “Boundaries between Stage and Audience in Medieval Theatre” and invites you to send her your paper proposals by 15 September 2021. For further details, please see the attached call for papers.
You might also be interested in the session organized by the Medieval Drama and Renaissance Society on “The Queerness of Early English Drama”. Abstracts (approx. 100 words) should be submitted by 31 July 2021.
Just a short time after I sent you the February Newsletter, I learnt that we have to mourn the loss of our dear colleague Guy Borgnet (Université de Bourgogne Dijon). I first met him in 1998 at the SITM colloquium in Odense and I’m very grateful to him for having shared with us his research at the SITM colloquia. He will be deeply missed.
Although not a member of SITM, another scholar who should be remembered for her research on medieval religious drama is Ursula Schulze. You will find her obituary on the website of the Freie Universität Berlin. May both of them rest in peace.
While waiting for the proofs of EMD 25 (2021), Cora Dietl will be glad to receive your manuscripts for EMD 26 (2022) by the end of August.
With my best wishes for a joyful summer!
Lenke Kovács
